MY Story
I’m not normally one to spit out quotes, however, this one by John Muir has stayed in my mind ever since I first heard it… “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity”. This hits home for me; the mountains are a reminder of what we really are.
The mountains are, however, not your friend. They can be a dangerous and unforgiving place. Respect them and you’ll be okay; underestimate them and it’s a recipe for disaster…
Respect. That’s a pretty vague term though, isn’t it? And perhaps makes more sense when describing how you should treat a boss or employee rather than a pile of rocks. So, what do I actually mean? To stay safe in the mountains you need to have the right skills, knowledge and ability to make quality decisions. That’s where Summit Safe Solutions comes in. We’re a company dedicated to teaching you this stuff.
We have one aim: To inspire and teach people how to stay safe enjoy the mountains. After all, we don’t let people drive down a motorway at 70mph without any training, or let people jump out a plane with a parachute after watching a 30-second YouTube video, do we? Why are the mountains any different? I think there is an answer to this; because they’re deceptive. When the mountains are in a good mood, they let you get away with a lot but they can turn quickly and you can soon find yourself out your depth. That’s why I believe people wanting to spend time enjoying these amazing places should have a basic understanding of how to stay safe. If this sounds reasonable to you, then check out our courses page to see how we can help!
My name’s Jared. I’m a self-proclaimed mountain lover (and qualified mountain leader), and I want to share my passion with you. The mountains are, and have been for a long time, my happy place. Away from the stresses of modern-day life, I get a feeling of simplistic freedom. The simple act of getting from A to B. In the moment, you are free - away from judgement, stresses and expectations. Just you, the real you, against nature.
